Strong is the New Skinny, Part 3: Why Celebs are Changing their Minds on Being Super Skinny

June 21st, 2010 | Posted in Fitness tips | 1 Comment »

There is a current influx of stars such as Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston all gracing our gossip magazines with impressively tight upper arms — and abs to match — making us not only green with envy, but also wanting to do something about our own wobbly parts!

Strength training with weights is hugely popular at the moment, and stars are looking better than ever. Think about how many celebs you see nowadays looking super skinny and getting away with it…

Take a look at these lovely ladies and forget what you think about them as celebrities and think solely about how they look:

Madonna vs. Calista Flockhart

Queen of pop versus Ally McBeal! Madonna is regularly seen jogging around cities and parks and is never photographed looking gaunt or too skinny; she looks hot! She regularly does strength training exercises and mixed with Ashtanga yoga and a healthy diet; she looks fitter than many other 50-year-olds.

Calista Flockhart on the other hand continues to be under the spotlight with her weight, and although obviously she has a naturally skinny frame; she waivers around the super skinny look far too often. Some light strength training with weights and a lean, healthy diet would soon help Calista to pile on a few pounds without looking overweight or over muscle-bound and at six years Calista’s senior; Madonna is kicking ass in the sex appeal stakes…

Gwyneth Paltrow vs. Victoria Beckham

Gwyneth is well known for being slim and sexy while Victoria is well known for being classy and skinny. But who looks better? Gwyneth is famous for her sexy body but how does she get it? Regular sessions with her personal trainer have transformed the Hollywood beauty from willowy and wispy to WOW! and she recently admitted that the biggest change has been to her previously non-existent, skinny bum, which has been successfully changed into a toned derrière!

Victoria however has maintained her skinny look and comes under much scrutiny about her ever-dwindling weight. Unlike Gwyneth, she seems to crave to continue with her skeletal look and remains one celeb not to change her mind on the uber-skinny look just yet. But whose body would you rather have?

Jennifer Aniston vs. Nicole Richie

Jennifer Aniston looks hotter than ever at the moment and although she has always had a good body; she currently boasts a healthy look that is neither too skinny nor too big and it is all down to her training regime. Our favorite Friend has taken to light weight training to get her upper arms in fabulous shape and at 40+, she has abs that many 20-year-olds only dream about.

Although 12 years her junior, Nicole Richie went from slightly chubby to ultra skinny in mega quick time, and the once bubbly personality is a shadow of her former self. Her skinny frame could do with some weight training and similar to that of Calista and Victoria; a lean diet coupled with workouts and training would see a super skinny body go from thin to sleek in no time.
